Charitable Giving Initiative Strathcarron Hospice

strathcarron hospice

Our 2022 Charitable Giving Initiative continued in June with Strathcarron Hospice in Denny chosen as the recipient of a £500 donation.

Strathcarron Hospice, which opened in 1981, provides specialist palliative care and expert end of life care, caring for people with incurable illnesses. Their services are free, and the charity’s vision is to help people make the most of whatever time they have left.

Their principles have held true over the past 40 plus years – good symptom control; good communication and openness between the patient, family, and staff; reassurance to reduce fear and anxiety; spiritual help and an environment that is homely, friendly, and relaxed.

When the hospice first opened all those years ago, 12 patients were initially cared for, and this number has grown to nearly 1,400 today.

Claire Kennedy, Corporate Fundraiser for Strathcarron Hospice, says:

“What a wonderful initiative you are running. Please pass on our thanks for nominating Strathcarron Hospice to receive this very generous donation; it really means a lot to us that Strathcarron is in their thoughts.

Your gift of £500 will give 24 hours of specialist palliative care to a patient staying with us in our Hospice in Denny, Falkirk. We provide specialist end-of-life care, love and support to patients living with life limiting conditions in our 24-bed in-patient unit and increasingly in people’s own homes through our Hospice@Home service. We are only able to continue to deliver our services free of charge thanks to the continued support of people like you. Thank you.”
