Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity

Our monthly donation to a different local or national charity through our Charitable Giving Initiative 2021 continues in June.

This month the Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity (ECHC) was nominated by one of our East coast team as the cause worthy of a £500 donation.

ECHC supports and complements the work of a number of children’s healthcare settings across the Lothians including the new Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, which opened in Edinburgh in March. Throughout the course of a year, the hospital will care for around 110,000 babies, children and young people, many of whom travel from across Scotland for specialist care.

The charity believes that nothing should get in the way of being a child and exists to transform the lives of children and young people in healthcare and the hospital also boasts an incredible £3.1m art and therapeutic design programme – the first of its kind in any healthcare setting in Europe.

Victoria Buchanan, Deputy Director of Fundraising at ECHC, said:

“We are enormously grateful to Hacking and Paterson for this very generous donation. Their support means we can ensure children, young people and families have a positive hospital experience throughout the duration of the pandemic and beyond.

“At Edinburgh’s new Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, ECHC supports children, young people and families with daily arts activities, ward-based youth work, our family support service, the play programme, our hospital shop and world class medical equipment and research – all from the moment they come through the hospital doors. Our work is reliant on donations so we simply could not continue to do this without the kindness of supporters like Hacking and Paterson.”

We are delighted to support such a worthy cause and if anyone else would like to make a contribution or find out more about the work of the Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity, please visit their website by clicking here
