At Hacking and Paterson Management Services, we advocate the proactive maintenance of commonly owned property. We believe our approach assists our customers in maintaining the integrity of their homes, allowing them to budget for future anticipated maintenance requirements. This approach also assists homeowners avoid repair works not progressing due to lack of funding, arising from un-planned maintenance.
There is however good news for those Homeowners living within the City of Edinburgh. Following the announcement of the introduction of the Shared Repairs – Missing Share Service by The City of Edinburgh Council, our team met with representatives from the Local Authority to explore how this new service can assist our Homeowner customers.
By utilising powers under the Housing (Scotland) Act 2006, the Local Authority will assist with ‘missing shares’ required to undertake essential common repairs, where the majority of Homeowners agree to undertake the same but are unable to progress these repairs due to a minority of Homeowners being unwilling or unable to provide their share of any associated costs. The Local Authority, using the powers granted to them, would thereafter seek recovery of the missing shares from the defaulting Homeowners. This service could assist our Homeowner customers encountering such difficulties, allowing essential maintenance works to their properties to be undertaken.
